Book Wheels: Share & Exchange wall

Place: Frederiksberg metro station

I propose a wall that tries to interact in the busy life of the people through a place to share and exchange. The main concept is to create a place in the middle of the routine life of the people who go to work or to the university everyday. To make it possible, I imagine a wall that takes you only few minutes of your day to take a book or to put a book in the wall.

I have designed a wall composed with different boxes that make it possible to have the utopic idea of share and exchange. People can put their books in the different boxes to be share and exchange with a stranger and when they have finished the book; they can take back the book, creating a chain of share and exchange.

The proposal can be temporary or permanent. Nowadays, the metro wall is placed between vibrant public spaces like a shopping centre, an university or green areas. It is a place in constant interaction with the life of the people. Thinking about the future, when the metro station will finish, I understand it as a place of constant movement of people but at the same time a place to stay, which gives you some time for yourself, waiting for the metro or sitting on it.

Materials:

The wall and the stairs are made with natural wood coming from recovered materials. The boxes are made with translucent plastic doing possible to watch the books through them but always keeping the mystery of what is the book inside the box. The sticks are made with wood with different colours trying to create a dynamic and colourful place.
